If you want to enable DRS during a race, a component with DRS stat needs to be equipped in your loadout set up. DRS stat is currently only available for certain rear wing components. These components will have a DRS icon displayed.

When upgrading components with DRS, this will also increase the DRS stat. Increasing your DRS stat increases DRS effect and duration, as well as reducing its cooldown.

The DRS button is displayed above your driver panel and below the power unit and engine modes in races. This will display in different ways depending on its current status:

- Locked: If a component with DRS stat has not yet been unlocked, the DRS button will not be displayed in races.

- Disabled: DRS is locked as a DRS stat component has not been equipped or DRS conditions have not been met (e.g. in safety car conditions, reaching 0% tyre life or entering the pit lane).

- Cooldown: DRS has just been used and is in its cooldown period before it can be used again. This is also displayed for the first lap of the race where DRS can not be activated.

- Ready: DRS is ready to be activated

- Active: DRS is currently activated

DRS ready and active status can also be seen for the rival.
